Beaches & Surfing

The nearest beach is just across the street from our Bed & Breakfast, but there are several other beaches in the area. East of Coronado Beach is Las Palmas and San Carlos, with several surf beaches in between. West of Coronado Beach is Malibu Beach and Nueva Gorgona. Playa Serena, Malibu and Coronado Beach are great for surfing when the tide is right. We can recommend a few local surf companies where you can take a lesson or rent a board during your stay.

El Valle De Anton

El Valle is a small mountain town about forty minutes away from Coronado Beach. Located in the crater of a dormant volcano, it has long been a popular retreat for Panamanians, and there are many houses in the area.

On the road to El Valle are many artisans who sell pottery, wooden furniture, and other decorative items. Many of their artisans also gather in El Valle on Saturday & Sunday for a town Craft Market. El Valle also has many other activities nearby, including hot springs, zip-line tours, a zoo, a museum, and a few great places to eat.

Panama City

Panama City is a modern city with great opportunities for shopping, dining and other fun activities, and makes a great day trip. Located just an hour away from Coronado Beach, Panama City is easy to get to, just head East on the Inter-American Highway.

The world famous Panama Canal is just outside Panama City. The Miraflores Locks are open to the public, with a museum and restaurant where you can watch the ships go through the Canal.

Don Chacho’s

Don Chacho’s Restaurant is on the main road to Coronado Beach. Located at the end of a small row of shops to the right (on the way to the highway), Don Chacho’s has a varied, grill-oriented menu and some of the best chicken in town. Don Chacho’s is usually open late, seven days a week and offers open-air and outdoor dining.

Luna Rossa

Luna Rossa is an Italian Pizzeria and restaurant, just up the road from the Coronado Beach Bed & Breakfast and features excellent pizza and Italian food. Luna Rossa is only open on Friday & Saturday. The restaurant also features a great covered outside dining area.

El Rincon De Chef

El Rincon De Chef is also located on the way to the highway, to the left in an outdoor shopping area, with both indoor and outdoor dining.

La Ruina

La Ruina is a Restaurant & Bar in Nueva Gorgona. Owned by a retired American serviceman and his wife, the restaurant occupies the town’s previously abandoned central building. The food is great and the history is very interesting. Ask for the Tour! La Ruina is open from Thursday, through Sunday.
