About Us

Mark & Marcie Preisler have been together since 1985 and started Handcrafted Pewter in Albuquerque, NM, making Christmas ornaments, jewelry, & other inspirational artwork. They continued to build the company, and after years of success, they moved to Fort Myers, FL. There they continued producing and selling pewter for another seven years. In 2007, they decided to sell the business and start something new.

“Something new” proved to be the opportunity to buy a property in Coronado Beach, Panama. Marcie was born in the Panama Canal Zone, which influenced the family’s decision to look in Panama for a new experience. The property they found in Coronado Beach offered a great chance to start a new experience, and they decided to open the Coronado Beach Bed and Breakfast, for which the house is perfectly suited.

Mark grew up in Las Vegas, NV, and became involved in metalworking soon after moving to New Mexico. Marcie is a 3rd generation “Zonian” who grew up in Panama City and the former Canal Zone, and moved to New Mexico to go to college.

The Collins family has been in Panama since 1908, when John O. Collins moved to the isthmus to work for the Panama Railroad. His two sons Fritz and Winter Collins were born and raised in Panama, as were his 9 grandchildren.

In the 1940’s the Collins family in Panama began a tradition of inn-keeping in Boquete, which continues to this day at the venerable Panamonte Inn, the Finca Lerida Ecolodge & Coffee Farm, and the Palo Alto Riverside.
The Preisler-Collins family plans to add to that tradition of fine service to travelers in Panama at the Coronado Beach Bed & Breakfast.
